Sugar Overload
After eating 4 pieces of candy last night, Meghan asked if she could have candy for dessert.
I am spending the morning explaining why candy is not a breakfast food.
I’ve also had to tell Sean multiple times that, no, we will not be trick or treating again when it gets dark out.
See ya next year Halloween.

Things heard at our house during Christmas
Sean: Look what I found!!
Meghan: I think this box is shaped like a Zhu Zhu pet!
Sean: Mommy, I can have more presents?
Meghan: Let me find the box shaped like the rolling ball.
Sean: I'm taking off my pants.
Meghan: ACK! The Zhu Zhu pet is stuck in my hair!
Meghan: This is the best Christmas EVER!
The day after Christmas.....
Meghan: Oh no! I forgot and did something I was not supposed to do! (as Zhu Zhu pet is hanging out of her head)
Meghan: This is the boring-est day EVER!

The (Belated) Birthday Post
On October 1st, Meghan turned five. 5. F.I.V.E. Five.
She was very much looking forward to her birthday. Last year she was invited to many birthday parties for her friends. They did crafts or gymnastics or lots of other things that were way more exciting than the parties with which she was familiar. But, there was one location that stood out. And, for almost a year now, she’s wanted her party to be at Pump It Up.
This year was the first year she was going to have a “real” party. With her friends. And, although a bit pricey, I welcomed the idea of having 20 kids someplace other than our house.
She was very excited. I wish I had pictures but although we were only responsible for remembering the kids, cupcakes and camera, I managed to forget the batteries. I did, however, remember the flip and the 2 batteries required for that to operate.
Here is just a taste of the fun.

Of course we sang Happy Birthday.

And there was cake were cupcakes.
I was not planning on making milk-free cupcakes because I figured I could just give Sean something different. However, after learning that one of the other children also had a milk allergy I decided to look into it.
I found this bakery that makes cakes and cupcakes dairy free.
They looked great and were yummy. Meghan requested the butterflies.
Happy Birthday Princess!

Digging out
The past week has been NUTS. Between Easter and a bunch of unpleasantness that has been sucking the life out of me, I have not had much time to do anything. I still need to rid myself of all this Easter paraphernalia*. If I trip over one more plastic egg, so help me, I'm not sure I'll be able to control myself.
So while I spend some time getting our lives back to something that resembles normal, I will leave you with a picture of the "eggs" we I made for Easter.
Behold, the dairy-free strawberry flavored rice krispy eggs.
* That word does not look right when you type it out. But I double checked with Google to make sure I was spelling it correctly. God, I love Google. Does anyone even own a dictionary anymore?

The little guy turns TWO!
Sean turned two this past Saturday. We have been so busy between now and then that this is the first time I've had a chance to post about it.
First I think we need to discuss the fact that he is TWO. Um, when did that happen? I don't know if it is because he is such a little munchkin or because he still babbles baby talk or something else but he does not seem like he should be two already.
We did not plan anything big for his birthday. Just a small family party. Thanks to the threat of a snowstorm and some sickness floating around the party got even smaller. Not a problem though. It just means he will get a second party this weekend.
We went out for Mexican food (Sean brought along his meal in a lunch box), opened gifts and had his Rice Krispie Treat Birthday cake.
Here are a few pictures from the day.

Oh, that's right, the Edaville post
I just realized I never wrote our Edaville USA post.
This year I wanted to try and make it to Edaville with the kids. For those of you not familiar with this place, during the holidays they set up a Holiday lights display. There are plenty of kiddie rides and Santa is also there for you to visit. We happened to get tickets at Meghan's Family Fun night so we picked a day to go.
I think we may have picked one of the coldest nights ever. It was absolutely freezing out. And very damp. Meghan managed to fall into a puddle after only the second ride. So she spent the rest of the time without any gloves. I don't think it bothered her much. She had a blast. Sean even went on a few rides.

Christmas 2008
Popping in to let everyone know we were not buried by presents (yet). Hope everyone got what they wanted in their stockings.
Christmas here went pretty much as I expected it would. Meghan came out not at all excited about the presents that appeared under the tree and instead wanted to sit on her chair to wake up a bit. It took Sean forever to open his gifts because he had to stop and play with each one. Meghan is more interested in Sean's gifts than her own. And somehow I only managed to take a handful of pictures.
But Santa did bring us a Wii and Wii Fit. And I got an iPhone. So all is well.

Bloggy Holiday Card Exchange '08
Welcome to my stop on the Bloggy Holiday Card Exchange '08.
Welcome everyone! And Happy Holidays!
This was the card we chose this year. I am always amazed when the photographer actually captures the kids smiling. It was only for like a split second.
